Content Description

Title
Portrait of an assitant of the ritual specialist in charge of the bhume deity.
Description
The assistant of the ritual specialist wears a traditional white cotton suit, a black topi (Nepalese man's hat) and a white cotton belt into which he has stuck a large kukuri knife. He carries a cuiver with arrows on his back and a longbow and a bunch of leaves from the isilim tree in his left hand. In his right hand he carries a cindu, a calebass filled with water or raksi (locally destilled brandy), with the special gesture of a pointed index finger - a sign that he is an initiated ritual specialist himself.
